How I feel about this character
Love him. He’s one of my favorite characters in the whole series. He’s also the sexiest character IMO. I went so far as to create a community called do_me_oberyn on livejournal.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Lots. The main ones are Ellaria & Willas, though. I think he & Ellaria had a really close, supportive relationship. They also had a really awesome sex life. Doran says she made him happy, & he really needed that after Elia’s death. As for Willas, I think they were doing more than just being pen pals. I’m gonna keep shipping it until GRRM actually shoots it down.
My non-romantic OTP for this character
I’m really interested in the Doran/Elia/Oberyn dynamic. They were clearly close & really loved each other. It’s too bad that we never get to see them actually interact in canon.
My unpopular opinion about this character
Um… does thinking he’s a better fighter than Gregor count? Oberyn was clearly superior- the only reason he lost was because he was hell-bent on getting Gregor to confess. If it hadn’t been for that, he wouldn’t have died.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
That he’d lived, dammit! What a waste of an excellent character. GRRM does that a lot.
